Attention!

Caprine Crew!

Hello Caprine Crew:

We are losing three of our 4-H 'ers this year as they and their parents leave for Swaziland, Africa to run an orphanage program in a high risk AIDS location.  We will miss them something awful, but we hope that they can keep us in contact so we can see how everything is going.

At Maine 4-H Days Caprine Crew raised $415. at the snack bar to help them purchase dairy goats once they are settled in Swaziland. If you would like to help them in their mission, contact me at: DawnAPirri@aol.com and I can give you information of how to help sponsor them in the missionary work.

They will use the milk to help feed all the babies in thier care.  The three girls all have a lot of hands on experience with dairy goats and it was a great way to get them prepared for this adventure without knowing it was coming up.  We are proud of them and will miss them dearly.

Our new year is well will be underway with Caprine Crew, we have many families that are active in our group now.  We have actually put a cap on our group for now as we are up above the 15 member mark.  We are well into our new breeding season here at the farm.  There will be lots of spring kids to choose from.  We will have several Lamancha, Saanen and Nubian does to choose from.   Then begins the training of showmanship and fitting.

Our community service project will be raising support for the Dairy Goat project in Africa.

Begin thinking of running for an office and if you do, can you commit to the time needed to actual fulfill your responsibilities.  Prepare your speech for the late Sept. meeting.

The next meeting will be gearing up for winter... getting everyone ready for the cold.  Heated buckets, hoof trimming, some Vit. shots, worming.  Closing up the gaps and making the barn a warm and safe place.  So dress warm and in work clothes.  Although we won't really be getting dirty, but might be handling a buck or two... he he
